Where it all began
The story of SSRS begins at the Stockholm Student Union. The objective to create an international centre for Swedish and international students came true when the student centre Forum was built. The centre was inaugurated by the then Minister of Education, Ingvar Carlsson, who also became Prime Minister. Bicky Chakraborty was the founder and initiator of the centre.
In 1980, SSRS Holding AB, was formed as a wholly owned subsidiary of SSSB. Three years later the company acquired historic Hotel Savoy in Malmö and the development of SSRS (Stockholm Student Reception Service) started).

DEVELOPMENT & CHANGE
By January 1985, the expansion required a different ownership structure. Bicky Chakraborty took over the ownership of SSRS from SSSB with two listed companies, AB Aritmos and Skrinet AB. Over the years the company's ownership changed several times and continued to be unstable until the end of 1998. Since January 1999, Bicky Chakraborty is the sole owner of SSRS Holding AB.
There was a time in Sweden when the tendency was to demolish the classic city hotels and replace them with modern hotels, inspired by American motels. The business idea to acquire and cultivate the tradition of a family-run city hotel/guest house is strongly anchored. With commitment and excellent financial understanding, the historic hotels have become profitable and this has subsequently offered opportunities to restore unique buildings with great care.
