Elite Hotels is the main sponsor of Augustpriset

This autumn, Elite Hotels will be on stage to initiate this year's nomination event for Augustpriset, Sweden's prestigeful literary award. As a company with many hotels in historic buildings, our sponsorship is an important way to connect our contribution to the Swedish heritage with Augustprisets work of supporting Swedish culture through literature.

Literature and book reading is a common part of the hotel experience, making our commitment to Augustpriset a natural part of supporting the written word and contributing to positive social development in the long run. Not least for children and young people. We support several initiatives explicitly aimed at younger people, including Lilla Augustpriset. A competition for young people between the ages of 16 and 20 which aims to increase young people's interest in book reading. As a proud partner and sponsor of Lilla Augustpriset, we want to contribute to creating future Augustpriset winners.

The initiative for the partnership was taken by Elite Hotels of Sweden's founder Bicky Chakraborty. A dedicated philanthropist who, thanks to his strong commitment to the Swedish cultural heritage, has made the company support Swedish culture through literature since 2016.

Literature is close to my heart, making it extra important to inspire the next generation to read books. Being part of and contributing to the Augustpriset work in supporting Swedish literature and the written word, not least among the younger generation via the Lilla Augustpriset, therefore feels extra honourable and something that I know my father was also passionate about.

Caroline Chakraborty, owner of Elite Hotels of Sweden.

Augustpriset was established in 1989 by the Swedish Publishers' Association to reward the best Swedish books published during the year. Prizes are awarded in three categories to promote qualitative innovation in fiction, non-fiction and children's and youth literature. There is also an ambition to create an interest in literary expression among young people through Lilla Augustpriset.
