SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORK

Elite Hotels of Sweden is committed to supporting the sustainable development of society. To us, sustainable development is the only way to ensure a positive and healthy environment for everyday lives and future generations. That is why we chose to annually Ecolabel our units, both Bishops Arms, Elite Hotels and hotels with their own brands. We work actively on all our destinations with issues related to sustainability and CSR.

We strive to provide quality products and services that cause minimal environmental impact. As we study the lifecycle of our products, processes and services, we learn how to minimise our consumption of energy and material. We work continuously to reduce our impact on the environment regarding energy, water, resources, chemicals and waste. We prioritise suppliers that are environmentally certified and that work actively with sustainability.

Our strategy is to use competence and commitment to increase the awareness of how our environment is developing. Our ambition is to create an Eco-friendly company, where motivated co-workers feel that they can contribute and take responsibility for the environment.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL WORK

GREEN KEY

Eco-labelled hotels

Elite Hotels works actively at all our destinations with environmental and CSR issues. All our Elite hotels are certified by Green Key, which is the leading international eco-label for facilities in the tourism industry. We strive to promote a positive and sustainable development in society and care for our current and future generations to ensure them a good and healthy environment.

We use 100% green electricity.
We constantly review our energy use and record consumption on a monthly basis.
Work pertaining to renewable energy and the environment is under way at every one of our hotels based on the specific circumstances at each property.
Low-energy lamps/LED lights are used wherever possible and we are phasing out our older lights.
All spaces are ventilated according to need.
Our hotels are by and large equipped with automatic lighting and presence sensors.
Heat is recirculated from the ventilation system, cooling units, and wastewater.
Energy-efficiency at all our hotels is optimally maintained through the replacement of fans and control systems.

We offer vegetarian alternatives.
We procure local produce and ingredients.
By February 2020, our hotels and restaurants will only use shell eggs and processed egg products from free-range chickens. We also do not use any processed products containing cage eggs (such as pastries).
Elite Hotels and The Bishops Arms have chosen to work with the European Chicken Commitment as a part of our work for better animal welfare. The decision includes all the chicken we offer at our hotels and restaurants. All the criteria will be accomplished by 2026. In addition, at least 20% of the chickens (in addition to the ECC standards) will have had access to outdoor activities. The chicken suppliers we use in 2024 meet most of the criteria, 7/10, which are requested in the European Chicken Commitment.

The cleaning agents and washing powders we use in our day-to-day operations are environmentally certified.
Disposable packaging is being gradually phased out to the greatest extent possible.
We limit unnecessary transportation by means of prudent logistics.
Toilet paper, kitchen towels, paper towelling and other paper products are environmentally certified.
Our letter paper, writing paper and other office paper are environmentally certified.

Going Green

A SUSTAINABLE ALTERNATIVE

For us, sustainability is a high-priority issue and we work actively to constantly reduce our environmental impact. We know that this is important for you too and therefore we have made it easier to help.

In 2020, we introduced "I am going green", a scheme where we offer our guests who stay several nights to choose if they want to refrain from having their room cleaned.

This means that you will help save on water, electricity and cleaning products, which significantly relieves the environmental impact of your stay.
